Man gets entire plane to himself after passengers 'gave up' due to flight delay

Getting on a private plane is not the only way for you to fly solo. Sometimes, flight delays are worth the wait.

A man was lucky enough to get an entire plane to himself during his flight from Oklahoma to North Carolina last June 25, Sunday, after he waited for almost 18 hours of delay. 

Phil Stringer from North Carolina documented some of the highlights from his VIP-like flight and posted it on TikTok earning nearly 10 million likes, as of writing.

In an interview with 6abc Philadelphia, Phil said that some of the passengers booked other flights while others completely gave up after a delay of 17 hours and 52 minutes.

Phil shared his once-in-a-lifetime experience, from being the only passenger to be called to board the aircraft to unexpectedly bonding with the cabin crew throughout the flight.  

He even got an airport staff in the video who joked with him as they shared that he only loaded one bag in the aircraft. 

The cabin crew also humorously welcomed him, with Phil saying that he felt bad for the crew who were “pulled from the hotel to come do this flight for one person.”

Phil shared laughs with the flight attendants and even took selfies with them.

“Honestly, it was just turning a bad situation into a good one,” Phil said in his interview with 6abc Philadelphia.

He added that he even exchanged numbers with the crew and is still in contact with them.  

"They gave me all the food and drink that I wanted, we joked around, they came and checked on me 100 times, [we] talked a bunch," Phil told PEOPLE. " We were joking about finding a game to play. We tried to see if we had bingo or something. It was just a fun time."
