Team Yulo in 2028?

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo hoped to compete with his younger siblings in an Olympics.

In an interview with reporters during his welcoming parade at Venice Grand Canal Mall at McKinley Hill on Aug. 14, Yulo said that he prays that one day, he and his siblings, Karl Eldrew Yulo and Elaiza Yulo, would compete together.

"I am praying for that po na matuloy po," he said.

When asked if he wanted to pursue competing with them in the LA 2028 Olympics, he proudly said "Yes."

In case you didn't know, 15-year-old Karl Eldrew is a certified gymnast who won five medals in the Pacific Rim Championships held in Cali, Colombia, last May. He clinched gold medals on the floor and vault exercises and silver medals on the individual all-around, still rings, and pommel horse.

Meanwhile, Elaiza, the youngest of the three, is currently cementing her name in gymnastics. She scored four golds and one silver in the Palarong Pambansa 2024 girls' secondary division.

Both also represented the country at the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Singapore last June and at the JRC Artistic Gymnastics Stars Championships in Thailand in November. Elaiza captured medals in the individual all-around, vault, uneven bars, and floor exercise, while Karl clinched six medals, including gold in floor exercise, silvers in individual all-around, vault, parallel bars, pommel horse, and bronze in still rings.

'Tatlo tayong mag-oOlympics'

During an interview with the ABS-CBN News, the younger Yulos expressed how proud they were of their achievement of Carlos.

"Ang galing-galing mo Kuya and proud na proud ako sayo, pagpatuloy mo lang 'yan," Karl said, adding that he also wanted to experience representing the  country in an Olympics with his siblings.

"Hintayin mo kami, hintayin mo ko sa 2028, dalawa tayong mag-oOlympics or tatlo tayo even better. Tatlo tayong mag-oOlympics, tatlong Yulo," he said.

"Andito lang naman kami palagi naka-suporta sayo kahit anong mangyari," Elaiza added.

Carlos made history in the 2024 Paris Olympics as the country's first double Olympic gold medalist.

Though he fell short of a medal in the all-around competition, he dominated the floor exercise final on Aug. 3, nailing gold. Less than 24 hours later, Yulo earned another gold medal in the men's vault, beating Armenia's Artur Davtyan and Team GB's Harry Hepworth.

He is the second Filipino athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympics, after Hidilyn Diaz at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
