Mom faces murder charge for drowning her daughter after needing some 'time alone'

A mother who is now facing a murder charge in connection to the death of her 7-year-old child said she drowned the latter because she needed some "time alone."

In a press release by the Hendersonville Police Department, authorities said they responded to a kid identified as Piper in Drake's Ceek in Tennessee last July 13—and determined that her mother, Brandi Elliott, was responsible for her death.

"Elliott was subsequently charged with First Degree Murder and transported to the Sumner County Jail," they said.

Court records obtained by media outlets like WTVF show that Elliott committed the crime after saying she needed "time alone" and asking Piper to keep quiet.

According to the documents, Elliott claimed she attempted to revive her child after holding her underwater via cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but it didn't work.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical assistance but she was pronounced dead later on.

An investigation on the case is ongoing.

Police asked those who can provide more details on what happened to reach their department as soon as possible.
