BIR extends filing of tax returns, payment of corresponding taxes to Oct. 29
The Bureau of Internal Revenue has given a three-day extension on the filing of tax returns, payment of corresponding VAT and quarterly percentage tax returns, and submission of required attachments.
According to a memo signed by BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza, the deadline has been pushed from Oct. 26 to Oct. 29 due to the unavailability of the Electronic Filing and Payment System.
Per Mendoza, no penalties will apply if you file or pay on or before Oct. 29.
The Electronic Filing and Payment System, which was rolled out in 2001, is the digital platform where Filipino taxpayers can file tax returns and submit required attachments, which BIR refers to as e-Filing. Through the system, taxpayers can also pay their tax liabilities or use the system's e-Payment via electronic bank or fund transfers.
The BIR said all taxpayers can use the system, which is accessible through the main BIR website or the BIR e-FPS portal.
