Filipinos can expect at least 19 typhoons in the country from June to November 2025, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said.

The state weather bureau earlier declared the beginning of the rainy season in the country on June 2.

"Scattered to widespread rainfall has been observed in the past five days due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat)," it said on Monday.

Specifically, one to two tropical cyclones are expected in June, up to three in July, August, and November, and up to four tropical cyclones in September and October.

"If a tropical cyclone would not form, it is also possible that a low-pressure area would bring rains and cause floods. Take precaution," PAGASA Climate Monitoring and Prediction Section Chief Ana Liza Solis said on the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon news program.

On Friday, May 30, PAGASA said that the habagat season in the Philippines has begun. This signaled the approaching start of the rainy season.

Likewise, the onset of the rainy season is expected within the next two weeks, and periods of monsoon breaks or reduced to no rainfall will also occur.

In its June 4, 5 p.m. weather update, PAGASA said that the southwest monsoon may bring rains to parts of Luzon. Meanwhile, southern and western portions of Mindanao can also expect rain caused by the Intertropical Convergence Zone.

The weather state bureau has also not monitored any low-pressure area or typhoon inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

On June 3, PAGASA said it would temporarily halt issuing heat index information amid the rainy season.
