Harlan Coffee among Monocle's 25 best coffee shops in the world for 2026
Harlan Coffee has been named one of the world's 25 best coffee shops in 2026, according to global business and lifestyle magazine Monocle.
In its June 2026 issue, Monocle wrote about its top selection of coffee shops around the world that are "run by people who deliver great brews, good design, and a sense of community."
The article, edited by Julia Jenne, described Harlan Coffee as an "urban oasis."
"Catering to on-the-go professionals, Filipino entrepreneur Emmanuel T Pineda's Harlan Coffee seeks to serve up re-energising experiences that fit into the rhythms of our working lives," the article read.
"Its priorities can be gleaned from its choice of locations: the first were near stock exchanges," it continued.
Currently, Harlan Coffee has 10 stores in the Philippines, all of which are in Metro Manila, and eight in Jakarta, Indonesia. According to Monocle, the coffee brand's long-term strategy is to expand internationally, beginning with opening a flagship store in every Southeast Asian capital.
Sharing Pineda's homegrown brand are retail stores offering clothes designed with the same sleek, minimalist lines found in Harlan Coffee shops. According to its website, the 11-year-old company's top priority is "to save people time for things that matter. Our mission manifests itself in every product we create, from clothes to coffee."
Along with Harlan Coffee, Monocle's list includes Fuglen in Oslo, Norway, Sip in Beirut, Lebanon, Nuances in Paris, France, Alchemist in Singapore, and Deluxe Coffeeworks in Cape Town, South Africa.
