Remember Nightbirde? Her album is set to be released a year after her death
Remember Nightbirde, the singer who captivated viewers in the 16th season of America’s Got Talent with her life story and original song It’s Ok?
Her family, along with The Nightbirde Foundation, is set to drop an album to mark her first death anniversary. Each song on the track list was recorded by Nightbirde (real name: Jane Marczewski) during her fight with breast cancer—a “reflection of her strength and the battle she was fighting in her own words.”
“Her work has touched the hearts of many because of her honesty and joy in the midst of sorrow,” said her brother Mitch Marczewski, who now serves as the foundation’s chief executive officer.
“This album doesn't pit these emotions against one another, but rather it shows joy can come through sorrow. Jane would be so proud of this album, but more than that, she'd be proud of the work that the Nightbirde Foundation is doing to help others find hope and healing in the midst of tragedy,” he added.
The proceeds from the album will go to the foundation and will be used to provide help and assistance to females who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Nightbirde sang her heart out in AGT's 16th season in 2021. In an interview on the show, she revealed she had “some cancer in her lungs, spine, and liver” and that she only had a “2% chance of survival.”
“But 2% is not 0%. Two percent is something, and I wish people knew how amazing it is,” she said.
The singer received a golden buzzer from judge Simon Cowell that season, which meant a ticket to the live shows. She, however, had to withdraw from the talent competition later on due to her deteriorating health.
Nightbirde passed away on Feb. 19, 2022 at 31 years old. Her album is now available for pre-order, but it will be released on March 10.
