Man who grabbed Ariana Grande in 'Wicked: For Good' Asia premiere kicked out of Lady Gaga concert in Australia
The man who accosted Ariana Grande during the Wicked: For Good Asia premiere in Singapore was kicked out ahead of Lady Gaga's concert in Australia on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Videos circulating online show the man, 26-year-old Johnson Wen, being surrounded by security before the start of Lady Gaga's concert at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, one of the singer's Mayhem Ball tour stops.
Eagle-eyed concert goers apparently recognized Wen despite him wearing sunglasses and a wig.
In the background of one video, a person can be heard chanting, "Take the wig off. Take the wig off," while the camera catches Wen taking off his eyewear and giving it to security. Cheers erupted when security removed Wen's wristband and led him away.
Another video from a similar angle had someone saying behind the camera, "That's the guy that jumped Ariana Grande in Singapore."
"Get him out of here," a concertgoer shouted, while others booed Wen, who turned around and smiled at his small audience.
In his Instagram story, Wen posted a selfie with the text, "Got kicked out of Lady Gaga concert! The show doesn't start till 8pm! The early fans were booing me."
During the Asia premiere of Wicked: For Good in Singapore on Nov. 13, Wen jumped a security barricade, ran to Grande, who was walking down the yellow carpet with the film's main cast, and threw his arm around her shoulders.
Grande's castmate Cynthia Erivo pushed him away. But later on, Wen tried to go over another barricade. Security then led him away from the venue.
A Singapore court charged him with being a "public nuisance" and sentenced him to nine days in jail.
Following his incarceration, Wen was deported from the country.
He has done the same with other celebrities, including Katy Perry, the Chainsmokers, and The Weekend.
