DC announces new ‘Injustice’ animated film releasing in October
An animated film based on the popular Injustice: Gods Among Us video game and DC comic book series is set for release on Blu-ray and digital platforms on Oct. 19, 2021.
NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon shared the cover artwork for the upcoming series his team helped create. The hit fighting game which launched on mobile and game consoles in 2013 pits members of the DC universe against one another in death matches similar to Mortal Kombat.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms released yesterday.

The animated film will reportedly pull from both the first Injustice game and the comic run of Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One delving into the fall of Superman.
The comic book story takes place on an alternate Earth where the Joker has tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane, sending the hero on a rampage. This unnhinged Superman decides to take control of Earth for its own good, leading Batman and his allies to attempt to stop him.
Fans can get a sneak peak of the film at the upcoming DC Fandome, a free global fan streaming event scheduled on October 16, 2021.
As reported by Gizmodo, the voice cast of the fighting games are not reprising their roles for the animated DC film.
Instead, Justin Hartley of (Green Arrow in Smallville) and Anson Mount (Captain Pike in Star Trek) will be leading as Superman and Batman respectively. The voice cast also includes Gillian Jacobs (Britta from Community) as Harley Quinn and Kevin Pollak (Hockney from The Usual Suspects) as the Joker along with several voice-acting veterans:

Injustice is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
The film’s suggested retail price is set at $40 for the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo pack, while the lone Blu-ray will cost $30. The Injustice animated film does not appear to be included with HBO Max subscriptions at this time.
