A 90-second special video was released by Square Enix for the upcoming anime adaptation of The World Ends With You. The anime will premiere in 2021. Its director, Kazuya Ichikawa, confirms that the story of the anime will follow the path of the game.

The anime is based on the popular Japanese role-playing game title of the same name developed by Square Enix in 2007 for the Nintendo DS. The game’s development was actually inspired by the elements of the company’s previous game, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.

A Nintendo Switch port for the game titled The World Ends With You: Final Remix was released in October 2018. A mobile version of the game titled The World Ends With You: Solo Remix was released on August 2012 for iOS and Android on June 2014.
