Still is Viu’s first Filipino Original musical narrative series and will consist of eight episodes. Viu is a Hong Kong-based video streaming service that provides premium Asian content in different genres, from top content providers with local languages and subtitles.
The Viu original series, dubbed as an “ode to the quarantine generation” puts the spotlight on young aspiring artists as they navigate through a period of isolation and struggle. Heartstrings will be pulled as they latch on to hope through their music.
The production is a collaboration of top Filipino talents from the creative industry who came together to echo the voices of artists during this difficult time without live concerts, live stage plays, and cinemas.
“Working on a production in the time of a pandemic is uncharted grounds for the teams involved. Behind the scenes, masks and face shields are worn at all times and safety protocols are at 100 percent. Yet, despite all the logistical humps and scheduling issues, Still was born out of a necessity to assure the viewers that artists will not stop creating and that the show or in this case, the music, must go on.”
Teaser videos for the series are already up and making waves via Still’s social media channels, and among film, theater, and music enthusiasts circles.
Still features a star-studded cast led by Julie Anne San Jose, Christian Bautista, Bituin Escalante and Gab Pangilinan.
Also in the cast are rising stars Gabby Padilla, Lance Reblando and Abe Autea, as well as other theater standouts including MC Dela Cruz, Chaye Mogg, Roco Sanchez, Ian Hermogenes and Shaira Opsimar.
Nica Del Rosario (songwriter of viral song Tala), Matthew Chang ( Dekada ‘70 the Musical), and singer-songwriter Mike Shimamoto make up the team behind the music.
The series showrunners include big names in the local film and theater industry including Two-time Palanca-award winner Pat Valera (Dekada ‘70 the Musical and Mula sa Buwan), Giancarlo Abrahan (Sila Sila, Paki, and Dagitab), and Nicco Manalo (renowned film, TV, and theater actor). The show is directed by Treb Monteras (Respeto) and produced by Monster Jimenez (Respeto, Apocalypse Child).
Still is produced by Viu Philippines and This Side Up, in collaboration with Arkeofilms, TheaterFansManila.com, Flip Music, and Black Box Collab.
The Exclusive PreViu tickets priced at P599 will give viewers early access to all eight episodes, a free six-month premium subscription to Viu Philippines, and a digital chord book containing the songs from the Viu Original series.
