Jenna Ortega says 'Wednesday' will be 'more action-packed' for season 2

The wait for the second season of the Netflix series Wednesday looks all the more worth it as star Jenna Ortega teases a “bigger” and “action-packed” new season.

During the red carpet of the 75th Emmy Awards, the 21-year-old actress told E! that she has already read scripts for the season and reiterated that it will be leaning more toward the horror genre.

“But it’s really, really exciting because all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes and that’s the wonderful thing about her,” Ortega, who will also serve as a producer for the second season, said.

“There’s really, really good one-liners, and I think everything’s bigger, it’s a lot more action-packed,” she added.

Fans can also expect the episodes to “feel a little bit more like a movie.”

In March 2023, Ortega said that she wanted more horror than romance from Wednesday. She also said in December 2022 that she was against the love triangle storyline between Wednesday, Tyler (Hunter Doohan), and Xavier (Percy Hynes White) in the first season of the series.

Program creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough have previously hinted that there would be more Addams family members to be revealed in the second season.

Wednesday premiered on Netflix in November 2022 and was included in Netflix’s Top 10 List of most popular English series. Its renewal for a second season was announced early last year.

The series is based on the Addams Family characters by Charles Addams and is expected to start filming again in Ireland in April.
