‘Wednesday’ Season 2 to start production in Ireland in April 2024—report
Can't wait for the second season of Wednesday?
The hit Netflix series is reportedly looking to start filming by April next year with a different location from its first installment.
According to a report by Deadline, the production is set to move to Ireland for its upcoming season due to logistical challenges that the crew faced in the first one, which was shot in Romania from late 2021 to early 2022. It received a massive tourism boost following the show's release in November 2022.
Jenna Ortega will reprise her Wednesday Addams role in Season 2. More details, including the actors who will return to the show, are yet to be revealed.
In the first season of the hit series, she was joined by Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Emma Myers, and Christina Ricci as well as Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán, who appeared as guest stars. She was also in a love triangle with Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier Thorpe (Hynes White).
The lead star, in a previous interview on Actors on Actors, said fans can expect to see more horror than romance in the second season. “We’ve decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more, because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously,” she said.
“We’re ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is really great,” she added.
Aside from acting, Ortega is also wearing a producer's hat in the new season. “We had already been throwing out so many ideas, and I’m somebody who’s very hands-on. I want to know what’s going on. And with a character like Wednesday, who is so beloved and such a legend, I just really didn’t want to get her wrong,” she said.
“I want to see the outfits, new characters that are coming in, scripts, and they were gracious enough to let me put the producer hat on,” she continued.
Wednesday Season 1 is streaming on Netflix. The ending teased that Wednesday has gotten herself her "very first stalker."
