R-rated live-action version of 'Christopher Robin' series is in the works
Christopher Robin is set to navigate his quarter-life crisis with the help of “weird talking animals.”
According to a Variety report, Boat Rocker Studios and Bay Mills Studios announced that a hybrid of live-action and animated Christopher Robin project is in the works, with an R-rated comedy TV series treatment.
In the upcoming series, Winnie-the-Pooh's best friend, Christopher Robin was described as a “disillusioned New Yorker” who is navigating through his quarter-life crisis. His adventure will be joined by the “weird talking animals” from a drug-induced portal outside his apartment complex, named the Hundred Acres.
“This project takes everything you think you know about Christopher Robin and Winnie-the-Pooh and creates something completely fresh and undeniably funny,” Shamier Anderson of Boat Rocker Studios and Stephan James of Bay Mills Studios told Variety.
The R-rated comedy series will be directed by Conrad Vernon known for his works Shrek 2 and Sausage Party. He will co-executive produce it with Charlie Kesslering who also wrote the script.
Prior to this, a Winnie the Pooh horror film dubbed Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was released in February in US cinemas.
