Tony award-winning musical ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ coming to the Philippines in September
Critically acclaimed and Tony award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen is arriving in Manila later this year.
Production company GMG Productions announced its upcoming Philippine run, which is slated for September at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque.
Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of Evan, an anxious high school student longing for a sense of belonging. When a misunderstanding spirals into something far bigger than he ever imagined, he faces an impossible decision: Tell the truth and lose everything, or embrace a lie that brings him closer to the life he has always dreamed of.
As the story unfolds, Evan navigates the complexities of truth, connection, and self-acceptance in a world that often feels isolating.
"Filipino audiences have been asking for Dear Evan Hansen for years, and we’re beyond excited to finally bring this production to Manila," Carlos Candal, CEO of GMG Productions, said in a press statement sent to PhilSTAR L!fe.
"The story, music, and message of Dear Evan Hansen resonate so deeply with so many people, and we can’t wait for Filipino fans to experience it live," he added.
The Manila leg will feature the UK touring production with music by the Emmy, Grammy, Tony, and Oscar-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Steven Levenson.
Tickets will be available on April 15 via TicketWorld. Theater fans can also get first dibs through UnionBank of the Philippines, or join the GMG Dear Evan Hansen waitlist at www.gmg-productions.com.
The pre-sale period will run from April 8 to 14.
Debuted on Broadway in 2016, the musical has won four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
