'Shrek the Musical' is coming to Manila, opens casting call
Are you ready to go to the Kingdom of Far Far Away? Shrek the Musical is coming to Manila this holiday season.
In a Facebook post, Newport World Resorts announced that its theatrical production arm, the Full House Theater Company, will be staging the “ogre-the-top adventure” this year. The show is said to run from October to December.

This production of the musical will be done under the direction of Michael Williams, with Cara Barredo as assistant director, musical staging by Dexter Santos, choreography by Stephen Viñas, and music direction by Rony Fortich.
Newport World Resorts also announced a casting call for the roles of Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Lord Farquaad, Dragon, Gingy, Pinocchio, and Wolf for the ensemble.
Registration will be held on March 29 at Hilton Manila from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., while auditions will take place later in the day from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Interested applicants are required to prepare 32 bars of a song from their favorite musical, alongside a minus one track for playback. Applicants must also bring their latest CV, a 3R-sized headshot, and a full body shot.

Shrek the Musical is based on William Steig’s book Shrek! and the popular DreamWorks Animation film of the same name. It's follows the story of Shrek as he goes on a quest "to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona with the help of his loveable Donkey and win back the deed to his swamp from scheming Lord Farquaad."
