P7 PER LITER: Netflix’s Seoul Vibe gas station sells gas at 1988 prices

Published Aug 26, 2022 9:30 am

Amid the skyrocketing fuel prices, a gas station along EDSA, Quezon Avenue, will sell fuel for only P7 per liter today, Aug. 26, in time for the premier of the new Korean Netflix film Seoul Vibe.

With the tagline, “Drive back to 1988,” Netflix’s Seoul Vibe Gas Station will let pre-booked motorists purchase gasoline at P7 per liter, the fuel price in 1988.

Seoul Vibe, a Korean blockbuster action film, revolves around a team of ragtag drivers and mechanics deployed to go undercover and dismantle a massive money-laundering ring.

It stars Yoo Ah-in (Hellbound)as Dong Wook, the greatest driver of the Sanggye-dong crew; and Ko Kyung-pyo (Reply 1988) as DJ Woo Sam, a club DJ, spy, and theology student. Lee Kyoo-hyung (Prison Playbook) portrays Bok Nam, the genius when it comes to Seoul's geography. Park Ju-hyun (Extracurricular) is Dong Wook's motor-riding younger sister named Yoon Hee. Ong Seong-wu, formerly of Wanna One, plays the character Jun Ki, the genius mechanic, and Sanggye-dong’s MacGyver.

The station’s opening was inspired by Filipinos’ nostalgia on social media of the time when fuel was more affordable.

To avail of the price off, drivers have to book a slot at www.SeoulVibe1988.ph. Fueling is strictly by appointment and vehicles without a reservation will not be allowed in the station. Each vehicle can gas up to 40 liters.

Netflix’s Seoul Vibe Gas Station's fuel is provided by Seaoil.

Watch Seoul Vibe when it premieres today Aug. 26, only on Netflix.
