'The Bodyguard' movie remake is in the works
The hit romance-thriller film The Bodyguard is getting a movie remake.
International outlets Variety and Deadline reported that a remake of the hit 1992 film is in the works at Warner Bros.
It is set to be directed by Sam Wrench, who also directed Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour. Juror No. 2 writer Jonathan A. Abrams is set to write the script.
More details, including the cast members, have yet to be announced.
The 1992 film was helmed by Mick Jackson and starred Kevin Costner and the late Whitney Houston. It centered on a former Secret Service agent (Costner) who was hired to protect a famous singer, played by Whitney Houston, from an obsessive stalker.
According to Variety, it grossed more than $400 million (P22 billion) at the box office worldwide. It earned several recognitions, including two Oscar nominations for Best Original Song for the tracks I Have Nothing and Run to You.
It was also adapted into a musical in 2012, 2023, and 2025 across Europe.
