Still crazy about the romantic comedy-drama film Crazy Rich Asians? You're about to see more of their luxurious life as a series adaptation of the hit flick is now in development.

In a report by Deadline, Max has officially greenlit the television follow-up to the 2018 film. Adele Lim, who co-wrote the original work, will serve as executive producer, writer, and showrunner.

Director Jon M. Chu will also return as executive producer, as is Kevin Kwan, who authored the novel of the same name that the film and series it's based on.

Details on whether the original cast—Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong, and Michelle Yeoh—will return for the series remains unconfirmed.

While two sequels based on the novel's follow-ups China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems are also being developed, sources close to production confirmed to the news outlet that the series will not replace these films.

Plot details are also still under wraps, but Max confirmed that the series will be a drama that takes inspiration from Kwan's China Rich Girlfriend, Rich People Problems, and Lies and Weddings.

Crazy Rich Asians follows economics professor Rachel Chu, an American-born Chinese, who travels with her Singaporean boyfriend, history professor Nick Young, to a wedding in his home country. Rachel finds out that he’s from an extremely wealthy family, who doesn’t approve of her.

Since its premiere, the film has garnered high praise from critics. It was also recognized at the 76th Golden Globe Awards with nominations for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for Wu.
