Filipino couple holds colorful 'Crazy Rich Asian'-inspired wedding in Singapore

Love is real, and it is even more beautiful than what you see in the movies.

Filipino couple Abbie Caram and JM Tiongco looked like they were starring in their own movie during their big day, as they took Crazy Rich Asians as inspiration for their wedding held in Gardens by the Bay, Singapore last June 18.

According to the bride, JM, they chose the Asian romantic comedy movie to be the theme of the wedding because it was their family’s comfort movie.

JM was keen on having the flowers to be as colorful as possible at her wedding. She shared that the “birds of paradise” from the movie’s wedding scene inspired her to “turn her dream wedding into reality.”

Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay, a nature park located in the central region of the country known for its “Supertrees,” was also crucial in their decision for the theme.

“Honestly, it wasn’t even entirely inspired from the movie at first but we ended up pushing through it because of the venue,” she told PhilSTAR L!fe.

To achieve their vision, JM and Abbie spent eight months planning their wedding with the Singapore-based wedding planner, Rosette Designs & Co.

“Everything was planned via Zoom meetings,” JM added.

According to her, the biggest challenge they faced was trying to predict the weather in Singapore, as they held an outdoor wedding.

All the wedding plans were worth it because their family and guests were impressed.

“They said the color combination of flowers was amazing!” JM shared. “They thought they were filming for a Crazy Rich Asian sequel.”

According to JM, their wedding would be unforgettable, not only for them but also for their guests as well, with some saying it to be “the wedding of the year.”

JM added: “People from United States, Australia, and the Philippines were glad they flew in for the wedding. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime wedding experience!”
