Heads up, content creators: Reels is coming to Facebook
The metaverse just got bigger.
Taking a page from their sister site Instagram, Facebook is now launching Reels in more than 150 countries worldwide. That means content creators and Facebook users are now free to shoot, edit, and share their own long-form video content on the world's biggest social media platform.
The site is also introducing better ways to help creators to earn more with new creative tools and more places to watch and create Facebook Reels. Aside from the bigger rollout, more editing options are also available such as Remix, wherein users can create their own reel alongside an existing, publicly-shared reel on Facebook.
Other new features include the Drafts option wherein creators can create a reel and choose to “Save As Draft” to post at a later date. A Video Clipping tool will also be available in the coming months to make it easier for creators who publish live or long-form, recorded videos to test it out different formats.
Meanwhile, Instagram head Adam Mosseri took to social media to share the news.
"If you're a creator, the reason why this mattters is that you can decide to share your Reels from Instagram to Facebook too which is a way to increase the number of people you can reach."
Mosseri shared that they will also introducing ads to the feature to aid creators in monetizing their content.
