'Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train' Phl fan screening dates announced

Anime film distributor Odex Pte. Ltd. has just announced an earlier date for the advanced fan screening of hit anime film Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train in several Southeast Asian markets, the Philippines included.

In a video announcement posted at Odex’ official YouTube channel, the distributor confirmed the advanced fan screening for Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train.

A "fan screening" is a scheduled screening that is set way earlier than the general public premiere. Because it is set earlier and due to the presence of distributor-produced novelties, ticket prices for fan screenings are much more expensive than regular screenings.

“For the Philippines, the Demon Slayer movie will be released exclusively in SM Cinemas,” says cosplayer Kiyo who hosted the announcement.

The one-day screening is scheduled on Nov. 28 only, in the following locations:

  • SM Bacoor (Bacoor, Cavite) 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
  • SM Masinag (Antipolo City, Rizal) 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
  • SM San Mateo (San Mateo, Rizal) 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Tickets for the fan screening costs P1,800 each and can be booked at the SM Ticket website (smtickets.com). Each movie ticket comes with the following limited edition items:

  • T-shirt
  • Can Badge (5 Designs)
  • A4 Folder
  • A2 Poster

The film’s general screening in the country is tentatively set for February 2021.

As of Nov. 1, Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train has sold over 11 million tickets and earned over 15.7 billion yen (about $149 million) in Japan. The film opened last Oct. 16 and is the first film to screen in IMAX theaters in Japan this year. It is now ranked #10 among the highest grossing movies (including foreign films) at the Japanese box office.
