Gamers poke fun at Met Gala 2021 high-fashion outfits in memes
The recently concluded Met Gala saw popular celebrities gathering together for a night of fashion.
While the theme was "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion," some outfits were so wild and out-of-the-box, that they looked straight out of a classic RPG or anime series.
Netizens were quick to poke fun at some of the high-fashion outfits worn by attendees and draw similarities to the crazy outfits worn by popular video game heroes and villains on social media.
Kim Kardashian's all-black, faceless Balenciaga outfit, was just begging to be trolled. The viral look is pure meme gold, with many people comparing her look to a Dementor from the Harry Potter Universe, Batman, or a locked character in a character selection screen, among others.

Lil Nas X went with three shimmery gold outfits meant to be stripped away, which some gaming sites compared to the evolution of boss battles in classic RPGs. The singer started with a glimmering oversized cape, which he stripped off to reveal gold Versace armor, and then ended with an ornate jumpsuit.

Artist Grimes donned a Dune-inspired gown, metallic silver face mask, and gunblade-like sword literally made out of an AR-15 assault rifle worthy of a high-level boss you’d encounter in a secret dungeon, or some noble Guardian Force you’d summon to aid you in battle.
Euphoria star Hunter Schafer had a similar battle-ready sci-fi look with a matching silver embellished Prada crop top and skirt, an alien-inspired headpiece and white contacts.

Some of the outfits really do look like DLC skin packs from video games, that some fans have taken the meme to the next level by inserting their favorite characters into Paparazzi shots taken on the red carpet, to show that they wouldn't look out of place next to the artists.
As reported by FTW, a Met Gala: Video Game Edition is one of the hilarious memes going around, with characters from Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Genshin Impact, and more appearing on the red steps in their own formal wear or battle armor.

Come to think of it, the video game character outfits actually look compartively tame compared to some of the wild outfits worn by celebrities.
