Quite unsurprisingly, social media was filled up with memes in no time right after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the stage of the Oscars 2022 awarding ceremony.

After winning the best actor award for King Richard, Smith in his acceptance speech has apologized to the Academy and fellow nominees—but didn't directly address Rock.

Will Smith wins Best Actor shortly after Chris Rock slap

Will Smith bagged the award for Best Actor at the 2022 Oscars for his portrayal of Richard Williams in King Richard.

In his acceptance speech, he apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees after slapping actor Chris Rock onstage, who made fun of his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith. 

“Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family. In this time in my life, in this moment, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world," he began.

“Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Wiliams, but love will make you do crazy things."

"I hope the Academy invites me back," he added.

BTS talks about their favorite musical moments during surprise appearance

BTS made a surprise appearance at the Oscars 2022 and talked about their favorite film musical moments. 

Jimin said he likes Coco, which RM called a “real masterpiece.” 

J-Hope, who expressed his love for Disney movies, referred to Aladdin as one of his favorites. RM also gave a shoutout to the same film.

“Disney movies stimulate emotions well,” added Jin.

'Encanto' wins Best Animated Feature at this year's Oscars

With a sprinkle of magical realism and catchy tunes by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Disney again claimed Oscars gold for best animated film Monday, March 28 (Philippine time) with Encanto, a colorful celebration of Colombian culture and the importance of family.

The film defeated a diverse field—Afghan refugee documentary Flee, Pixar's Italy-set coming-of-age tale Luca, futuristic family comedy The Mitchells vs. the Machines, and Disney's fantasy adventure Raya and the Last Dragon.

Will Smith hits, curses at Chris Rock after comedian jokes about his wife

Will Smith has appeared to have hit Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about the actor’s wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Rock commented about Jada's hair and joked that she was going to star in a G.I. Jane sequel.

Footage showed Smith walking ontage toward Chris where he appeared to have slapped the comedian in the face.

Afterwards, Smith returned to his seat and was heard cursing Rock “Keep my wife’s name out of your mouth.”
