WATCH: Love triangle ensues in 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' season 3 official teaser
The official teaser for the final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty is here.
In the one-minute teaser by Prime Video, Belly (Lola Tung) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) are seen blissfully in love—they’re in college, going on trips, sneaking in kisses in the library, and spending their summers at Cousins beach—with Taylor Swift’s Daylight playing in the background.
All is well until Conrad, played by Christopher Briney, shows up at the Cousins house during a holiday as Belly opened the door for him. The two, who were former lovers, looked equally shocked, before Conrad says, “Hey” as the background music shifts to Swift’s Red (Taylor's Version).
"It’s the end of her junior year of college, and Belly’s looking forward to another summer in Cousins with her soulmate, Jeremiah. Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life," the synopsis reads.
"Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart,” it added.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the series’ showrunner, Jenny Han, teased that there will be “surprises” in the final season, even for those who have finished the book trilogy.
"There are the things that [fans] know and then there are things they think they know, and then there's going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them," she told the outlet.
The Summer I Turned Pretty follows the story of Belly who was caught in a love triangle between two brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah. She then deals with her first love and first heartbreak during the perfect summer in Cousins Beach.
The series is adapted from Jenny Han’s young adult book trilogy, which has titles The Summer I Turned Pretty, It’s Not Summer Without You, and We’ll Always Have Summer. Other cast members of the series include Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Sean Kaufman, and Rain Spencer.
The final season will premiere on July 16.
