The first transgender character of Star Wars debuted her first look in the franchise's latest book.

Star Wars Holocron—a hub for news, reviews, and trivia about the popular sci-fi franchise created by George Lucas—on X shared the page of Sister from Star Wars: The Secrets of the Clone Troopers, published by Insight Editions and distributed by Simon & Schuster.

Sister has long braided hair and her armor has stripes resembling the transgender flag.

According to the account, the character Rex says of Sister in the book: "When one of our kind expressed her gender identity differently than her fellow troopers, she featured she’d have to hide who she truly was inside. Fortunately, her brothers in the 7th Sky Corps gave her the name Sister as a constant reminder that she belonged."

Sister has not appeared yet in any Star Wars movies or television shows.

Sister made her canon debut in the 2022 young adult novel Queen's Hope by E.K. Johnston, published by Disney-Lucasfilm Press in the United States. She served the fictive world's Galactic Republic, a democratic union, alongside Anakin Skywalker (a.k.a. Darth Vader) and Obi-Wan Kenobi during the Clone Wars.

Sister doesn't have a major role in the novel, though outlets like The New York Post, The Gamer, and Screen Rant shared her interaction with Anakin on how the term "transgender" was coined in the fictive universe.

After a brutal battle, Anakin asked Sister's name, and she explained where it came from and how her brothers had supported her coming out.

Sister expressed concerns over her gender identity as a clone trooper, but Anakin gave her reassurance.

"The Jedi are all about transcending things," Anakin is quoted as saying. "I don't think we can complain if you've transcended gender. Transcended gender. We'll work on it, but I like where it is heading."

The Secrets of the Clone Troopers contains an illustrated guide to the universe's highly trained soldiers and their history. It has interactive features like pop-ups, booklets, and lift-the-flap inserts.
