Marina Summers among Top 4 finalists of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World’ Season 2
Marina Summers made it to the finale of the second season of Drag Race UK vs. The World after emerging in the Top 4.
In the show's latest episode, the five remaining queens showcased their wits and stand-up skills in the comedy roast dubbed Michelle and Graham Haters Wedding Roast.
While she earned positive comments from the judges, Michelle Visage noted how Marina tended to “fall off” at times in delivering her lines.
"In the roast, when you had the timing, you had us. And then when it kind of fell off or you felt the joke is not landing, then you would lose it. But I enjoyed it, and I loved your energy," Visage said.
In the runway walk of the category Take Me Up the Aisle, the drag queen highlighted her Filipina roots once more by wearing a traditional Yakan wedding attire by Zamboanga-based designer Erich Minoza.
“I feel honored and blessed to have been able to share this traditional Yakan wedding ceremony attire (one of the Philippines’ many ethnic groups) on the world’s stage of [Drag Race UK BBC],” she wrote in an Instagram post.
Tia Kofi and Hannah Conda were named the top queens for this week. Hannah chose Scarlet Envy to end her journey in the fifth place.
Aside from Marina, La Grande Dame also made it to the finals.
The Filipina drag queen currently has three RuPeter Badges this season. Her latest win was in the sixth episode where she and Hannah won the dance challenge.
In the fifth episode, she earned praise during their group performance dubbed Seven: Confessions of a Drag Queen, inspired by the hit comedy musical show Six.
RuPaul highlighted how she makes not just the Philippines, but the whole drag community, proud.
"Marina Summers, you were born to be on stage. You were born to do drag,” the drag queen said.
“You have represented not only the Philippines, but drag in such a way that it makes us all proud [of] you," she added.
Marina was announced as part of the show's cast earlier this year, making her the first drag queen to represent the Philippines in an international All Stars edition of RuPaul's Drag Race.
She previously won the talent show for her powerful performance of AmaFilipina.
