‘Paddington 3’ to begin filming in 2022
StudioCanal has announced that part three of the The Adventures of Paddington will start its principal photography in the second quarter of 2022.
The location, director, and cast—which includes Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington and also stars Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins—are currently under wraps.
Previous director of the first two Paddington films, Paul King, will now executive produce the highly anticipated feature. He will also be involved in the story alongside Simon Farnaby and Mark Burton.
The script will be penned by Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont. Studiocanal will reunite with Heyday films which credits include Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts.
Paddington follows the comic adventures and misadventures of a bear from Peru who found his new home and family in London with the Brown family after they met in a Paddington station.
The announcement was made by Studiocanal during an event in Cannes on Tuesday, alongside other projects in celebration of Studiocanal’s 30th anniversary which aims to be “Europe’s answer to a Hollywood Studio,” said chairperson Maximme Saada.
Included in the announcement are upcoming film and television projects with their partners and acquisitions like Role Play, War Magician, Cat Person, War of the Worlds, Wild Republic, and Eine Unerhörte Frau, among others.
Paddington debuted in 2014 with two British Academy Film Awards nominations for outstanding British film and best adapted screenplay. It earned the same nominations for the second film including best actor in a supporting role.
Paddington 2 is available for streaming on Netflix Philippines.
