Up for a follow-up to the iconic 2004 film Mean Girls?

PEOPLE Magazine reported that the teen comedy film's stars Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams expressed their interest in making a sequel to it.

According to the media outlet, a source told them that Lindsay, who plays Cady Heron, "wants to do another [Mean Girls] and has a good relationship with her former cast members."

"They are her friends and have been. Another film would be great for her and for audiences who loved the original," the insider is quoted as saying.

The source added that Rachel, who portrayed the OG mean girl Regina George in the movie, would take part in a sequel "if everything presented to her made sense."

"She is super busy, but likes her former cast members and would be interested in talking about a sequel if it becomes a reality," they added.

Mean Girls revolves around a previously homeschooled teen named Cady Haron who moves from Africa to Illinois. When she enters high school, she gets into a popular group that invites her to sit with them.

The movie became a pop culture phenomenon when it was released in the early 2000s. With a screenplay based on Rosalind Wiseman's 2002 novel Queen Bees and Wannabees, the film earned over P7.2 billion worldwide. Its Broadway adaptation also received 12 nods at the Tony Awards in 2018.

It was turned into a movie musical, which was released early this year.
