Apple CEO Tim Cook teases new 'Air' device to launch this March

A new Apple device is launching this week.

The tech giant's CEO, Tim Cook, shared a teaser for an upcoming event on X.

"There's something in the air," the six-second clip read.

Cook, meanwhile, simply said that the release was happening "this week."

There's no news yet on what Apple will announce, but rumors suggest it will be a new MacBook Air powered by the M4 chip. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said earlier in February that the tech company is refreshing its sleek laptop line with new 13- and 15-inch models.

Tech outlet 9To5Mac also predicted that the new M4 MacBook Air could get new features like better battery life thanks to its new chip, 16GB base RAM that goes up to 32GB RAM, a 12MP Center Stage camera, and expanded external display support.

In addition to the new MacBook Air, Gurman said the tech giant could refresh its iPad Air line as a "double Air announcement isn't out of the question." He noted that the iPad Air is in "extremely short supply, as well, so a launch could be imminent.

On Feb. 20, Apple released its newest smartphone, the iPhone 16e, the most affordable member of the iPhone 16 family. The latest gadget comes with Apple Intelligence, a notched 6.1-inch display, Face ID, a single 48MP Fusion camera, the action button, USB-C, C1 5G modem, and an A18 processor.

The company announced the M4 chip in May 2024. The new processor boasts up to 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, and Apple's "fastest Neural Engine ever." It's also said to be 25% faster than the previous M3 chip.

Devices with this processor include the iPad Pro, Mac Mini, iMac, and MacBook Pro.
