Looking for new offerings to watch this month? There are a lot of interesting shows and movies to stream or even catch in cinemas for the ultimate experience. From mystery dramas with a twist to action-packed projects that could keep you on the edge of your seats, here are series and films that are worth a space on your watch list for July.

Widows' War

Status: Starts airing on GMA on July 1
Starring: Bea Alonzo and Carla Abellana with Jean Garcia, Tonton Gutierrez, Jackie Lou Blanco, Timmy Cruz, Rafael Rosell, Benjamin Alves, Rita Daniela, Juancho Trivino, Royce Cabrera, Lito Pimentel, Charlie Fleming, Matthew Yu, James Graham, and more

Let's start the list strong with the trending Philippine mystery drama Widows’ War. This exciting show follows the story of best friends Sam (Bea Alonzo) and George (Carla Abellana) who became rivals due to an incident that happened between their parents. The two later reunite when they marry Paco (Rafael Rosell) and Basil (Benjamin Alves) of the Palacios clan. Little did they know that they will eventually mourn the untimely deaths of their husbands. Dark secrets will be revealed in the coming episodes. 

Citizen of a Kind

Status: Showing in cinemas beginning July 3
Starring: Ra Mi-ran, Gong Myung, Yeom Hye-ran, Jang Yoon-ju, Park Byung-eun

In the mood for an action-comedy with a twist? K-drama favorites Ra Miran and Gong Myung lead the cast of Citizen of a Kind. Inspired by a true story, a laundromat owner in South Korea becomes a victim of a voice phishing scam in 2016. One day, she receives a call from the phisher who tricked her by claiming that he was locked up somewhere in China. Determined to retrieve her money, she flies to the country to rescue the phisher in hopes of getting her money back. 

Red Swan

Status: Starts streaming on Disney+ on July 3
Starring: Rain and Ka Ha-neul

OG Koreanovela Oppa Rain teams up with Kim Ha-neul for the romance revenge action series Red Swan. A rough bodyguard named Do-yoon (Rain) starts to work as the bodyguard of Oh Wan-soo (Kim Ha-neul), who was once a professional golfer that ended up running a world-famous charity foundation after marrying a chaebol from the Hwain Group. Do-yoon has a personal mission of working in the conglomerate. More secrets that could put Oh Wan-soo’s life in danger will be revealed later on.

Last One Laughing

Status: Starts streaming on Prime Video on July 4
Starring: Vice Ganda with Rufa Mae Quinto, Empoy, Tuesday Vargas, Jayson Gainza, Pepe HerreraKim Molina, Jerald Napoles, Victor Anastacio, Chad Kinis, and Negi

"Unkabogable Superstar" Vice Ganda hosts the well-loved global comedy franchise Last One Laughing. The idea of having the top Pinoy comedians in one show is already a delight—what more if they're not allowed to laugh at the punchlines of their fellow jokers? Who will be the last one laughing?

Space Cadet

Status: Starts streaming on Prime Video on July 4
Starring: Emma Roberts

Stuck in a rut and in need of inspiration to keep going without getting too dark and serious? Space Cadet might be the film for you! Here, Emma Roberts plays the role of Tiffany “Rex” Simpson,” a party girl with a dream of going to space. She applies for NASA’s ultra-competitive astronaut program with a "doctored" application—and surprisingly gets in. Will she be able to keep up with the training?

The Auditors

Status: Starts streaming on Viu on July 6
Starring: Shin Ha-kyun, Lee Jung-ha, Jin Goo

Corporate drama, anyone? The Auditors serves as the comeback of Shin Ha-kyun in the K-drama scene. He plays the role of Shin Cha-il, the intimidating leader of the audit team at JU Construction, a company with corrupted officials. One of the members of his team is newbie Goo Han-soo, who dreams of scoring an opportunity to make a living overseas, but finds it challenging to work under Cha-il. Will the rookie employee survive the world of office politics?

Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World Season 2

Alice, Iska, and Sisbell go back to the Nebulis palace after defeating the Object in a battle. Iska develops a tighter bond with Sisbell's guard, which makes Alice's heart ache. Good Partner

Jang Na-ra and Nam Ji-hyun team up as veteran and rookie lawyers with contradicting personalities in the upcoming legal drama Good Partner. Here, Cha Eun-kyung (Jang Na Ra) is a respected attorney who dedicated her life to the Daejung Law Firm for 17 years. Known for being a good divorce lawyer, she gets into a tricky situation when she enters her own divorce proceeding. On the other hand, Han Yoo-ri (Nam Ji-hyun) is a rookie lawyer who is still idealistic and believes in justice. Will they be able to work and succeed together?

Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines

Status: Starts streaming on Crunchyroll on July 13
Featuring: the voices of Hikaru Tohno, Momoka Terasawa, Shion Wakayama, and more

This anime offering puts the spotlight on friendly heroine Anna Yanami, energetic heroine Remon Yakishio, and shy heroine Chika Komari. Streaming platform Crunchyroll describes it as "a fresh take on a helter-skelter story of youths on the losing side of romance with slightly questionable, losing heroines."

Betty La Fea: The Story Continues

Status: Starts streaming on Prime Video on July 19
Starring: Ana Maria Orozco, Jorge Enrique Abello, Natalia Ramirez, and more

Do you remember watching the Philippine version of Betty La Fea on local TV? Guess what? Betty and Armando are back with Betty La Fea: The Story Continues. Just like any other married couple, Betty and Armando faced some challenges and are on the brink of divorce. As a mother, Betty wonders if her adolescent daughter enjoys her chosen path. Due to certain circumstances, Betty will be forced to go back to Ecomoda to work as the boss. She reunites with some of the original characters we loved and hated in the first installment.

Sweet Home 3

Status: Starts streaming on Netflix on July 19

Deadpool & Wolverine

Status: Showing in cinemas beginning July 24
Starring: Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds

The long wait is over for fans of long-time BFFs Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool & Wolverine will finally hit the big screen! As Wolverine recovers from an injury, he crosses paths with the loud-mouth Deadpool, and together, they defeat a common enemy.

Pulang Araw

Status: Starts streaming on Netflix on July 26; starts airing on GMA on July 29
Starring: Dennis Trillo, Alden Richards, Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, and David Licauco

Last but not the least is Pulang Araw, a Philippine historical drama set in the World War II. Here, four childhood friends named Eduardo (Alden Richards), Adelina (Barbie Forteza), Teresita (Sanya Lopez) and Hiroshi (David Licauco) face the challenges and atrocities of the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during the second world war. Dennis Trillo will also be playing a villain role as Yuta Saito.
