Who’s excited for the upcoming K-drama Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha starring Shin Minah and Kim Seonho?

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha tells the story of pragmatic dentist Yoon Hyejin (Shin Minah) who moves into the seaside town of Gongjin. She soon crosses paths with the unemployed jack-of-all-trades Hong Dooshik who’s known as the town’s neighborhood hero.

While the teasers didn’t reveal much about the K-drama, many fans are excited to witness the heart-fluttering chemistry of Seonho and Minah. The first episode will premiere on Aug. 28, and here’s everything we know so far.

It’s a remake of a 2004 film

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is a remake of the 2004 film Mr. Handy, Mr. Hong starring Uhm Junghwa and Kim Juhyeok. The feel-good film revolves around the endless bickering between the main leads until they eventually fall in love.

Even if the K-drama’s plot may seem familiar, the production team assured in an interview with Soompi that it’s worth “anticipating” to witness Dooshik and Hyejin getting closer.

This marks Shin Minah’s K-drama comeback after a two-year hiatus

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha marks the return of Shin Minah to K-drama land after a two-year hiatus.

The actress took a break from acting in 2019 to support her boyfriend and actor Kim Woobin who suffered from nasopharyngeal cancer in 2017.

This is Seonho and Minah’s first K-drama together

Thanks to Seonho and Minah’s heart-fluttering chemistry, it’s hard to believe that it’s their first time working together.

In an interview with ELLE Korea, Minah revealed that Seonho is someone who always makes her “feel comfortable” while filming. She also expressed her support for the actor since he “does everything well.”

On the other hand, Seonho described Minah as someone with a “great capability.” He also praised the actress for being “very honest and lovely.”

Seonho and Minah are known for their unforgettable roles

One of the main reasons why Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is much-anticipated by K-drama fans is Seonho and Minah’s ability to pick unforgettable roles.

Minah first caught the attention of fans when she played the stunning Gumiho, a mythical nine-tailed fox, in the 2010 series My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. She also appeared in popular K-dramas such as Oh My Venus, A Love to Kill, and Arang and the Magistrate

Meanwhile, Seonho is known for breaking fans’ hearts as the “eternal second-lead” in Start-Up and 100 Days My Prince. Seonho was so charming, that you would pay more attention to him than the main leads (sorry, Nam Joohyun and Do Kyungsoo).
