Janella Salvador, Gian Magdangal to serve as guest vocalists for 'Moana' film concert
The ocean is calling, and Janella Salvador and Gian Magdangal are answering as they are set to portray the singing voices of Moana and Maui in the upcoming Moana Live-to-Film Concert.
Salvador and Magdangal will perform the iconic songs of the two characters live alongside the 78-member Filharmonika Orchestra, under the baton of Gerard Salonga.
Scenes from the animated film will also be played on the big screen, so guests can relive the magic in a whole other way.
The concert will feature the film’s acclaimed score and soundtrack by Mark Mancina, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Polynesian composer and performer Opetaia Foa‘i. You can expect to hear fan-favorite songs including How Far I’ll Go, You’re Welcome, and We Know the Way.
This isn't the first time Salvador has stepped into the role of Moana as she had previously recorded How Far I’ll Go for the Philippine release of the film in 2016.
The actress first rose to prominence through the drama romance series Be Careful With My Heart, before taking on leading roles in Oh My G!, Born For You, The Killer Bride, and Darna.
On the other hand, Magdangal is an award-winning singer, recording artist, and actor. He recently got to perform with Broadway and Disney legend Lea Salonga as her special guest during Hong Kong Disneyland's 20th anniversary celebration concert.
Disney’s "Moana Live-to-Film Concert" will take place at The Theatre at Solaire from Oct. 3 to 4. Tickets are now available via Ticketworld's website and participating outlets nationwide.
Moana premiered in 2016 and centers on the titular daughter of a Polynesian chief who sets sail across the ocean to save her people and discover her true destiny. Along the way, she teams up with the demigod Maui and embarks on a journey filled with mythical creatures, ancient legends, and self-discovery.
It later spawned a sequel, Moana 2 in 2024, and a live-action adaptation starring Catherine Lagaʻaia and Dwayne Johnson has also been made. A third film is currently in development.
