Jenna Ortega will no longer return for 'Scream 7'—report
Jenna Ortega will not be joining the cast of the thriller-slasher film Scream 7 due to a conflict in the shooting schedule with her Wednesday series, according to a report.
Deadline reported that the actress' exit was in talks months before the strike held by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
The Wednesday production will reportedly be held in Ireland in April 2024. Jenna is also working on Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2, which is slated to premiere in September 2024.
This comes after another Scream star Melissa Barrera was fired on Nov. 22 for showing support for Palestine on her social media pages.
“Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion, or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech,” the Scream producer said in a statement.
Melissa, however, maintained her stance, saying that “silence is not an option” for her.
Jenna and Melissa star as sisters Tara and Sam Carpenter in the fifth and sixth installations of Scream. They are joined by pioneer cast Courteney Cox and Skeet Ulrich.
The hit horror franchise follows the thrilling story of surviving a murderous Ghostface Killer. It was first released in 1996 with Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Drew Barrymore as its lead stars.
