WATCH: OG 'X-Men' cast members return in 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Three characters from the original X-Men movies cast are now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

The third Avengers: Doomsday trailer released on Thursday, Jan. 6, features a dilapidated X-Mansion, wreckage all around and seemingly recovering from an attack.

"Death comes for us all. That's all I know for sure," Charles Xavier A.K.A. Professor X (Patrick Stewart) narrates in the background.

"The question isn't: are you prepared to die? The question is: who will you be when you close your eyes?" he continued, as the backside of a bald figure in a wheelchair is shown, transitioning to its rolling wheels.

A chess piece levitates mid-air before the scene cuts to two arms clasped together. The camera then pans to Charles Xavier, wearing a jacket emblazoned with an iconic black “X” set against a red circle, which then shifts to an older-looking Magneto (Ian McKellen), clad in a rugged gray sweater over a brown undershirt, with curly hair visibly thinning with age.

If that isn’t enough to make franchise fans squeal, the scene cuts to X-Men leader Cyclops (James Marsden) in a comic-accurate suit, on his knees, screaming as he unleashes his most powerful optic blast yet after removing his visor.

A message then appears: "The X-Men will return in Avengers: Doomsday" with a timer ticking until the movie's Dec. 18 release date.

In March 2024, longtime X-Men actors Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden were among the first names to join the Avengers: Doomsday cast, as revealed in an announcement video by Disney. They played Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops, respectively, in numerous X-Men movies since the year 2000 under the film company 20th Century Fox, now 20th Century Studios, after a Disney merger.

McKellen was last seen as Magneto in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past, along with Marsden's Cyclops, while Stewart made a cameo appearance as an alternate version of his character in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The trailer follows teasers featuring Chris Evans' Steve Rogers and Chris Hemsworth's Thor. The new Black Panther, Namor, and the Thing are set to be featured next based on leaked trailers online.
