PSY is returning to music, and Suga of K-pop supergroup BTS is ushering him in as the producer of his comeback single That That.

PSY, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, debuted in 2001 and became famous worlwide when he released his catchy hit single Gangnam Style in July 2012. He has been out of the limelight since he dropped his album 4X2=8 in 2017.

Five years later, in April 12, 2022, the 44-year-old South Korean singer announced on social media that he is making a comeback with the a new album titled Psy 9th

In a separate post shared earlier today, April 26, PSY said That That will be the carrier single of his upcoming album and that it was produced by Suga of BTS.

In addition to his announcement, PSY shared a teaser video where he is seen in a cowboy town, sporting a cowboy outfit, and running towards the camera in slow motion. A guitar can be heard playing in the background.

Suga showed his support for the collab by posting the same video on his Instagram feed today. The album is due out at 6 pm KST (7 pm Manila time) on Friday, April 29.

With regards to working with the seasoned artist, Suga said in an interview video uploaded on PSY's Twitter that he was initially nervous "because he's many years my senior and someone who's so well respected in the business."

Yet along the way, the 29-year-old rapper-record producer found a "bestie" in PSY. "It felt like working with a childhood friend so it made the songwriting process much more fun," Suga said, adding, "We became besties in a way."

PSY affirmed this, saying, "He wasn't just my junior in the business, but also he truly feels like a friend... It was hard to feel any age gap."

"If he thinks of me as a bestie, that's great for me. How much younger does that make me?" he added.

Apart from Suga, PSY worked with Korean artists Jessi, Sung Si Kyung, Heize, Crush, Mamamoo’s Hwasa, and Epik High’s Tablo in producing his 12-track album. It includes a song titled Celeb that was composed by rapper Zico and would feature K-pop idol-turned-actress Bae Suzy in the music video.

Collaborating with famous Korean artists is not new for PSY. The record producer left his former talent agency in 2018 and a year later, he built his own company called P Nation. Its portfolio consists of singers like Jessi,  HyunA, PENTAGON member DAWN, Heize, and Crush. The agency is set to launch its first boy group, TNX, in mid-May.
