Korean actor Yoon Shi Yoon is in the Philippines studying English

South Korean actor Yoon Shi Yoon is currently in the Philippines to study English.

In an update for his fans, the Psychopath Diary star on July 20 said that he's been in the Philippines for a month now.

"It's been about a month, and I've lost about 4kg (8.8lbs). I'm diligently studying English. Starting English study as an adult made me embarrassed, so instead of starting at an intermediate level and giving up when I hit a wall, I started from the basics," he said as reported by allkpop.

Shi Yoon also revealed his plan to head back to Korea after roughly two months of studying English abroad, to refocus on his acting career. He also highlighted the social benefits of language learning, noting it's helped him build new friendships.

"Communicating in English, even though it's not perfect, has allowed me to build friendships, making me realize the value of language. It's not easy to convey feelings, but I'm grateful for everyone's support in various languages," he added.

The actor said he will be attending a gender reveal party next week, which is not a thing in Korea. "Next week, I'm attending a gender reveal party. It's a culture that's unfamiliar in Korea, and I was invited for the first time. It will be a memory for that child and a new experience for me. I'm wondering what gift to bring."

The actor also updated that he has been watching variety shows in his free time.

Yoon Shi Yoon isn't the only Korean star to study English in the Philippines. He joins Hwang In Youp, Astro's Cha Eun Woo, The Boyz' Hwall, and BTOB's Yook Sungjae, among others.

Shi Yoon is known for his lead roles in TV series such as Bread, Love and Dreams, Psychopath Diary, It's Beautiful Now, and You Raise Me Up.
