Mandy Moore revealed that her 2-year-old son with Taylor Goldsmith, August, has been diagnosed with Gianotti Crosti Syndrome, a rare skin condition affecting children that results in blisters and rashes.

The Hollywood actress took to her Instagram stories to talk about her eldest son’s diagnosis.

“This sweet boy woke up with a crazy rash on Saturday am,” she wrote in the caption. “We tried to deduce what it could be and did anything to help him find relief from the itch.”

After consulting multiple doctors with different specialties, they finally got some answers.

“Turns out it’s a viral childhood rash that just spontaneously appears called Gianotti-Crosti syndrome,” she wrote.

According to the National Institutes of Health, the skin condition causes a papular rash with blisters on the skin of the legs, buttocks, and arms. Mandy mentioned that it could last 6-8 weeks and sometimes accompany a cold, but not in her son’s case.

She added that the only thing to do is apply steroid cream and Benadryl every night.

The This is Us actress also described Gus as a ‘rockstar’ because, despite his condition, he still smiled and laughed throughout the day.

Mandy reflected on her son’s health scare, saying, that parenting can be "weird and hard" and that sometimes parents "feel so helpless."

"And yes I'm ever so grateful it's only an itchy skin condition," she added.

Mandy also assured her followers that her family is still doing well despite this, saying, "kids are resilient and as long as he's smiling through it, we are a-okay."

The actress has been very public about her motherhood journey and has been focusing on spending more time with her family this summer.

“I went back to work with both of them pretty soon after I had them, a month with Gus and six weeks with Ozzie. So to not be working right now and to really have this concentrated family time is so special,” she said in an interview with PEOPLE.

Mandy and Taylor tied the knot in 2018. Aside from Gus, they also share a son named Oscar or Ozzie, whom they welcomed in 2022.
