Girl spotted with Kobe Paras in Bali addresses third party accusations in his relationship with Kyline Alcantara
Singer-model Rhaila Tomakin addressed accusations that she's a third party in the relationship of basketball player Kobe Paras and actress Kyline Alcantara.
Tomakin was said to be the "mystery girl" whom Paras was spotted holding hands with in Bali, Indonesia last month.
In an interview with reporters, shared by The Philippine STAR, Tomakin stressed that Paras is nothing but a "very good friend."
"Kobe is such a great guy, a very good friend, but that's about it," she said.
Asked to reveal the real score between them, she replied, "Yeah, we're friends," noting that they're "still friends" to this day and are still communicating.
Tomakin said she understands the hate she's been getting from the public. "Gets ko naman 'yung mga tao kasi things can easily be misunderstood. I don't want to invalidate anyone's feelings."
Without being specific, Tomakin noted how Filipinos are subscribing to the so-called three-month rule, in which one must not date again after a breakup until three months have passed.
"It's 2025, guys, and we have same-day delivery now. Not international shipping anymore," she said.
Tomakin reiterated that she "wasn't inserting myself or hurting anyone's feelings."
"It was just a matter of same place, same time, we had a simple moment. And I don't read much into it," she said.
Amid the criticisms she's been getting, Tomakin noted how Paras served as a "very good support system" and was "very helpful" toward her in dealing with "all the hate."
"It wasn't up until this situation that it really opened my eyes that you don't know people's stories," she said. "You have no idea what goes on in people's lives, and it's easy to misconstrue something that you see online."
"Everything just gets blown out of proportion," she added. "I want to clear my name, obviously, but that's not all. I want to do this to share with people that you don't really have to hate on someone because you don't know the full story."
Tomakin also pointed out that even if she's telling the truth, people would still dismiss her as a liar. "People who easily believe something about you, wanted to hear it in the first place."
Tomakin said she's been getting death threats on social media and even by email. Her family and friends were also targets. "I delete apps on my phone. I only download apps when I post content. I don't really like to scroll because I don't like doomscrolling. But my friends knew before I did, and they're sending me links," she said. "It's a certain point when I was scared to come back to the Philippines."
Tomakin left a message for those who are hating on her amid the issue: "I suggest that you strengthen your life force, find your passion, and put energy into something that will benefit you because you're probably never gonna meet me."
Paras and Alcantara have been plagued with breakup rumors after users noticed that they had deleted some of their couple photos on their Instagram accounts. They fueled the split speculations further after unfollowing each other on Instagram days before Paras and Tomakin were seen in Bali.
Paras' mother, Jackie Forster, in a video message on April 27, denied cheating claims against her son and accused Alcantara of being toxic in their relationship. She claimed the latter was "begging" him to get back with her and even physically assaulted him.
Alcantara's family and friends have been defending the actress on social media.
Her agency, Sparkle GMA Artist Center, on April 29 issued a statement saying she "would like to move on with this issue," without being specific.
"She has chosen to keep her peace and maintain the respect for the people who have been part of her life. She hopes we can all move on and put this issue to rest," the statement read.
Paras confirmed his relationship with Alcantara in November 2024.
