Kyle Jennermann reflects on learning moments following road accident: 'Please stop at crosswalks if you can'

Kyle Jennermann, better known as Becoming Filipino, got into an accident at the crosswalk by Guadalupe Ferry Station.

On Instagram, the travel vlogger shared how it all went down. He first began by sharing how some drivers don't stop for pedestrians at crosswalks and said that he has since adapted to this.

"I had just glanced over to my right to make sure the cars on the other side were stopping… and next thing you know my body and leg were hit and I was sitting on the ground. A motor was counterflowing past the red car that had stopped for me… and went straight into me."

Jennermann, who started introducing himself as "Kulas" in 2014, was lucky not to be severely hurt, but he did sustain a few bruises and a small wound on his knee.

Nonetheless, he shared some reflections and learning moments from the experience. One of which is a reminder to watch for counterflowing motorists.

"That simply exists everywhere here. Even in "modern developed areas"… example would be Mckinley road between Makati and BGC. Just check out rush hour every day and you will see a long counterflow line," he said.

Moreover, Jennermann advised to take photos or videos right away in case the driver runs off.

Lastly, the content creator emphasized that stopping at crosswalks is a "simple way to show some kindness," on the road.

"Please stop at crosswalks if you can. I try to as much as possible when driving."

The 34-year-old Canadian vlogger achieved his Filipino citizenship as he took his Oath of Allegiance at the House of Representatives in Sept. 2023. His oath-taking was administered by Congressman Len Alonte, who was also the principal author of the first House Bill.

In his previous interview with PhilSTAR L!fe, Kulas revealed that his immense love for the Philippines blossomed from the first time he visited the country in 2013 out of curiosity and after being convinced by his Filipino colleagues.

He then became a full-time content creator with his YouTube channel "BecomingFilipino," a platform where Kulas has been showcasing the wonder of the country's nature and people in his travels across the country.
