WATCH: Nintendo drops trailer, release date for 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' remake
It's an exciting year for Zelda fans!
During a presentation on Sept. 8, Nintendo revealed a new trailer for its next big game in the action-adventure franchise: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.
The teaser showed a glimpse of the world of Hyrule in a new art style and even recreated the opening moments of the game with hero Link riding on a horse across a field.
Furthermore, it gave a peek into gameplay, including combat mechanics, puzzles, and more. The footage showed an art style different from Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. However, it features a similar third-person perspective where you follow Link as you go on an adventure across Hyrule.
Eiji Aonuma, the producer of the series, shared that the upcoming title will be a faithful interpretation of the original game, which first came out in 1998 for the Nintendo 64.
"We had many discussions about what visual style we should use for this game. We decided that if Link's adventure took place in a world that has both been remade yet felt somewhat nostalgic, he would look like this," Aonuma said, adding that the creators didn't aim for realistic graphics.
The remake adds certain features like jumping and rotating the camera to get a different view. On the Nintendo Switch 2, you'll be able to hum a tune that Link can learn to play on the ocarina through the console's built-in mic.
Additionally, Nintendo is releasing a Zelda edition of the Switch 2, which features the Joy-Con controllers in forest green with elements like the Triforce on the back of the console and the dock.
During the presentation, the gaming company also confirmed that the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie will be released in theaters in April 2027.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on Nov. 5, 2026 for the Nintendo Switch 2.
