Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray, other beauty queens express shock and grief over passing of Chelsie Kryst
Various beauty queens have expressed their grief and sympathy over the sudden death of Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst.
Kryst, an attorney and an entertainment correspondent, reportedly leaped from a Manhattan apartment building in New York City and was pronounced dead on the scene early Jan. 20, according to a police report. Her death was verified then by her family in a statement. She was 30 years old.
“In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie,” the statement wrote.
Hours before she was found dead, Kryst posted on Instagram a photo of herself with the caption: "May this day bring you rest and peace," which was ended with the heart emoji.
In an Instagram post, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray shared a photo of her with Kryst.
"Ches...I can't believe the news. Rest in peace angel. The world will miss your light," Gray wrote in the caption.

Kryst's last Instagram also drew comments from various beauty queens expressing their sympathies.
"So sorry, Cheslie.. you were so kind. Thank you ? You’re an inspiration & loved by so many. Rest in peace, Cheslie.. ?," Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach commented on the post.
Likewise, Miss Universe Philippines 2019, Gazini Ganados also show her compassion towards her batchmate in pageantry. The 26-year-old Cebuana beauty queen wrote, “You will be missed, my love! You were the sweetest. Heaven has gained another angel! I love you sm Rest easy.”
Olivia Jordan who is also a former Miss USA and Miss Universe 2015 second runner-up, wrote, “Rest peacefully sister. The world will miss you and the light you shone so bright.”
Miss Universe- Albania 2019,Cindy Marina wrote, “I’m in disbelief. This feels like a bad dream. You were kind, friendly, intelligent, graceful and so much more. When I met you for the first time in NYC I was taken aback by your kindness and warmth. You were a force Cheslie and my heart is broken to know you are gone so soon. May you Rest in Peace sweet angel. We will remember you always.”
The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) and Miss USA Organization also released a joint statement.
“The Miss Universe and Miss USA Organizations are devastated to learn about the loss of Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst. She was one of the brightest, warmest, and most kind people we have ever had the privilege of knowing, and she lit up every room she entered. Our entire community mourns her loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.” the statement read.
