Carla Abellana reacts to news that Tom Rodriguez is back in the Philippines
Carla Abellana reacted to the news that Tom Rodriguez has returned to the Philippines as she opened up about whether she's ready to see her ex-husband again.
"I don't feel intimidated, scared, nervous," she told entertainment reporter Nelson Canlas in an interview on GMA's 24 Oras. "Wala namang ganun. Of course, artista siya. May obligation siya."
"Dadating naman talaga 'yung day na babalik siya sa trabaho. Hindi naman maiiwasan 'yan," she continued.
When asked about the possibility of seeing her ex-husband again, the actress noted that she's "ready."
"I think naman, okay lang. Ready naman ako. Hindi naman ako 'yung type na, 'Ay, ayoko,' or avoidance or what," she said.
Tom's manager, Popoy Caritativo, revealed that the actor is back in the country on Sunday, Jan. 28 as he shared a photo of them taken at a restaurant in Mandaluyong City.
Tom and Carla got married in October 2021 after a 7-year relationship. They sparked divorce rumors after Carla was spotted without her wedding ring in early 2022. Tom also deactivated his Instagram account a few days after social media users noticed that Carla was no longer in his following and follower list.
Tom, who is an American citizen, announced their divorce in June 2022 without getting into much detail about their split. “I left the Philippines for the US last March 13, with the realization that despite all my efforts, Carla had already given up on our marriage,” he said in a statement posted by his manager. “It was not a perfect relationship, but we both know how much we loved each other,” he said.
In a February 2023 guesting on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Carla said she has forgiven Tom after everything that happened between them. "For you to be able to forgive kailangan po ako, Tito Boy, ang lagi kong sinasabi, I have to forgive myself first. So yes, I have. Wala man po sa hitsura, but I have," she said at the time.
She also noted in a September 2023 interview that she has "definitely" put their past relationship behind her for good as she has finally found her peace. "Talagang nasara ko na po 'yung chapter na 'yun ng aking buhay. Lagpas-lagpas pa po ako sa pagmu-move on, 'yung ganun," said Carla.
