Carla Abellana reveals she has forgiven Tom Rodriguez: 'Ang hirap magbitbit ng galit'
"Disrespect and lying" are some of the many reasons Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez's marriage did not work out, according to the actress.
While she has been vocal about getting hurt by all these one too many times, Carla said she has already forgiven Tom. The secret, she said, was deciding to forgive herself before anything else.
The 36-year-old star revealed this during her guesting in Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Thursday, Feb. 16.
She said, "For you to be able to forgive kailangan po ako, Tito Boy, ang lagi kong sinasabi, I have to forgive myself first. So yes, I have. Wala man po sa hitsura, but I have."
The actress and psychology graduate added that people around her may have noticed it, giving her compliments about her physical appearance.
“Mapapansin niyo po ‘yan na, ‘She looks like she’s glowing.’ Bitbit niyo po ‘yan, e. So I have, technically po. I saw it as something na I have to forgive myself first bago ko siya mapatawad."
She later revealed that she decided to forgive herself for losing respect for herself after giving her all to Tom.
"As far as I know, or as far as I’m aware, naibigay ko naman po lahat, and I really fought and gave everything, my all po," she said.
"'Yung sobra, sobra sa pagbigay wala nang natira for myself na self-respect, I should also forgive myself, I should also take care of myself. ‘Yung mga ganu’ng bagay na halos wala nang natira sa sarili."
In her interview for Bea Alonzo's vlog last Feb. 4, Carla admitted that she regrets marrying Tom and that she doesn't have the courage to talk to him "anytime soon."
Despite that, she said in her recent conversation with Boy Abunda that she is no longer angry with her ex-husband.
“Galit, wala na po. Ang hirap magbitbit ng galit,” Carla continued.
The celebrity couple got married on October 23, 2021, after six years of being together. Rumors about their separation began circulating in January 2022, with Tom confirming that they have ended their relationship in June of the same year.
"Napakaraming dahilan kung ililista po natin yan, but basically, bottom line is, umabot na po sa breaking point, kumbaga sobra na po," Carla said on the reason for their breakup.
"There was disrespect, there was the lying, there was no change. Hindi po 'yun first time na nangyari sa akin pero ito po ay taken to a different level. You get to the point na it's too much already."
Despite everything she has been through in the past two years, Carla wants to assure herself that "everything's gonna be okay."
She said, "I’m grateful for all the blessings, for what I have left. I’m grateful for my life, my family, my best friends, my work. I’m grateful and I’m humbled."
