Kim Soo Hyun's agency shuts down dating allegations involving Kim Sae Ron

Kim Soo Hyun's agency set the record straight on resurfaced dating allegations between him and late actress Kim Sae Ron.

"The claims made by HoverLab Inc. in their YouTube broadcast about Kim Soo Hyun are clearly false and baseless," the agency wrote in a statement, according to K-entertainment media outlet Soompi.

This came after YouTube channel HoverLab Inc. on March 10 released a video claiming that the two Korean stars were in a "romantic relationship" for six years—when Sae Ron was just 15 years old and he was 28.

The video also alleged that one of Sae Ron's relatives said the rumors were true through a phone interview.

The channel also accused Soo Hyun of "acting improperly in handling the aftermath of Sae Ron's DUI incident. (Sae Ron faced backlash in 2022 after she was caught driving under the influence and crashing her vehicle into multiple trees and guardrails in the Cheongdam neighborhood in Gangnam District. The accident left a transformer broken, cutting off electric supply for 57 nearby businesses.)

"These malicious claims directed at our company and actor Kim Soo Hyun are entirely false and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances," his agency said, adding that they are currently reviewing the "strongest possible legal action" against HoverLab Inc. for spreading fake news.

As they deeply sympathize and mourn the loss of the late actress, who died at age 24 in February, the agency implied that "the dissemination of such false information by HoverLab Inc. mirrors the very behavior of so-called 'cyber wreckers' that caused the late actress so much pain during her lifetime."

"Their actions, driven solely by self-interest, not only damage our company but also tarnish the honor of the deceased, and thus we will respond to this matter with the utmost seriousness," Gold Medalist noted.

The agency also urged the public not to spread the rumors, amplifying or reproducing the "baseless falsehood" made by HoverLab Inc.

This is not the first time that Gold Medalist denied the dating rumors between the two.

In March 2024, Sae Ron posted a now-deleted Instagram story showing a photo of herself and Soo Hyun looking affectionate while posing together in a selfie. The former immediately deleted the image within a minute, causing speculations that the two actors were romantically involved.

"We are informing you that Kim Soo Hyun's dating rumors are not currently true. The photo that has been spread online appears to have been taken in the past, when [Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron] were under the same agency, and we are completely unable to understand the motivation behind Kim Sae Ron's action [of posting the photo]," the agency said during that time.

It added, "Due to the photo in question, unnecessary misunderstandings and groundless speculation about our actor are currently running rampant, and we will be taking strong legal action through our legal representative in response to malicious slander and insulting posts that defame our actor's character or honor."

Soo Hyun starred in various hit K-dramas including Queen of Tears (2024), Its Okay Not to Be Okay (2020), My Love from the Star (2013), The Moon Embracing the Sun (2012), Dream High (2011), and The Producers (2015), among others.

Sae Ron began her career at nine years old and became a notable child star by starring in the thriller-drama Korean film A Brand New Life. She also starred in the 2010 action-thriller film The Man From Nowhere.
