KATSEYE’s Sophia Laforteza to resume group activities in January 2027
KATSEYE member Sophia Laforteza is set to resume group activities in January 2027, HYBE x Geffen announced.
In a notice posted on Weverse on Oct. 8, HxG confirmed that the Filipino-American singer will return to the global girl group in the first week of the month.
“We are happy to share that Sophia will resume group activities with KATSEYE beginning the first week of January 2027,” the announcement read. "Sophia has been prioritizing her health and well-being with our full support and resources."
However, she will not participate in the North American leg of KATSEYE’s THE WILDWORLD TOUR or promotional activities for the remainder of 2026.
“We look forward to welcoming her back as KATSEYE continues this next chapter together in 2027,” HxG said, thanking fans for their continued support and understanding.
Laforteza also addressed fans in an Instagram Story, thanking them for their “patience, grace, and understanding” throughout her hiatus.

“It hasn’t been easy, but I have been putting in the work by receiving the care I need, learning the tools to better support myself, and doing everything I can to nurture my well-being,” she wrote. "I’m going to use this time to continue training and get myself to where I need to be again. As much as I wish I could simply push through, I’ve come to understand that sometimes having the courage to take a step back is what allows you to move forward."
"My hope is to return feeling happier, healthier, stronger, more grounded, and ready to give you everything I’ve been wanting to give you," she added.
She also expressed her excitement about reuniting with her fellow members onstage, writing, “I can’t wait to share the stage with my sisters again and look out to all of you!”
Laforteza initially announced her hiatus in August, saying that she needed to prioritize her mental health and wellness. The decision came ahead of the release of KATSEYE’s third EP, WILD, and the group’s subsequent tour activities.
KATSEYE, formed through the reality competition The Debut: Dream Academy, consists of Laforteza, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Manon Bannerman, and Yoonchae Jeung. Manon has been on hiatus since February.
The group debuted in 2024 under HYBE and Geffen Records and has since released songs including Touch, Gnarly, and Gabriela.
