Pasig City mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya reveals 2025 polls is her first time to vote

Pasig City mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya revealed that the 2025 midterm election would be her first time to cast a vote.

In an interview with reporters, Discaya was thrilled over the elections as it was an opportunity for her to finally exercise her right to vote.

"Sobrang excited. Siyempre first time—it's also the first time for me to vote, so sobrang excited, sobrang new experience for me," she said.

When questioned why she had never voted in elections in the past, she attributed it to the tedious process of registering to be a voter.

"Ang hirap eh, ilang beses na ako nag-try na mag-register. So medyo mahirap. I actually registered sa annex or satellite office ng [Commission on Elections], kaya ngayon lang ako nag-register," Discaya explained.

As a first-time politician who is gunning for the seat of current Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto, Discaya said that she is confident about the results but is also preparing herself for disappointments.

"Hindi naman ako 'yung tao that always thinks of the pros. Siyempre, you always have to think of the cons," she said.

"I enjoyed the journey so much. Meeting new people, lalo na nalalaman mo kung ano 'yung mga kalagayan ng mga tao. At minsan, nakaka-relate ka kasi once upon a time, napagdaanan mo rin 'yung mga pinagdadaanan ng mga tao, lalo na sa laylayan," she continued.

Should her rival win, Discaya assured that she is "willing to congratulate or shake the hand of the winner."

"Oo, madidisappoint ako that I didn't win kung saka-sakali, pero at the end of the day, winner pa rin ako. Bakit? Unang una, guys, pumayat ako. Isang pangarap ko na mula bata pa ako, gusto ko mamayat," she joked.

"Pangalawa, madami akong taong nakilala at natulungan. Masayang-masaya na doon ang puso ko. So win or lose, feeling ko pa rin winner pa rin ako.

Discaya is the owner and general manager of the St. Gerard Construction Development Corp. Her and Sotto's camps have been in a tense rivalry during the campaign period after a series of allegations and apparent smear tactics.
