Boy Abunda is keeping his lips zipped for a while on matters concerning Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque, who recently confirmed that they have now called off their engagement.

In case you missed it, the former couple broke their silence about the end of their relationship in a joint statement posted on their Instagram account, stressing how it was "not an easy decision" for them to make.

Additionally, Alonzo and Roque talked about how there were people who confirmed their split "without [their] consent" and how others created "ridiculous" stories about it, saying, "We felt the need to share this announcement with great sadness, for our peace of mind and our families."

While they did not name any people, it can be recalled that Abunda was the one to confirm the status of their relationship during his talk show, Fast Talk with Boy Abunda. During his contract renewal with GMA Network, the veteran host was asked about his thoughts on the couple's statement that seemed to allude to him.

"There’s a time to speak and a time to shut up. Right at this moment, I’m choosing to shut up—but not for long," Abunda said as per GMA's report.

He also highlighted how there is "so much pain being experienced by the parties involved," and that it deserves much "respect."

When Abunda broke the news, he said that the former couple were "trying to understand each other, but they're going through a rough patch." He further noted that it was not right for Alonzo and Roque to be judged because of the breakup.

"Pinapalabas na ang may problema si Bea Alonzo kasi naghiwalay sila ni Gerald Anderson, naghiwalay sila ni Zanjoe Marudo, ay hindi nagtatagal ang kanilang mga karelasyon. To me, napaka-judgmental po noon," Abunda said.

"Punta naman tayo doon kay Dominic. Masakit din pakinggan, walang pera, hindi mayaman, hindi sikat, hindi karapat-dapat kay Bea. Cruel," he added, urging others to be kind as they don't know the full story.

Prior to Abunda, showbiz insider and talent manager Ogie Diaz was the first one to bring the issue of the pair's breakup into light through his YouTube channel, where he discussed how multiple sources had told him that Alonzo and Roque were not talking.

Alonzo and Roque first sparked dating speculations in 2019. The actress announced her engagement on July 19 last year through a series of Instagram pictures showing Roque kneeling on one knee while she was in tears.
