Thai BL actors Both and Newyear announce breakup after getting engaged

Published Feb 19, 2025 7:05 pm

Engaged Thai actors Newyear Kitiwhut and Both Nuttapong shocked their fans as they announced their breakup.

The sad news was announced by Kitiwhut on his Instagram account on Feb. 15, just after Valentine's Day. He shared that the two of them have called it quits for two months now.

"The reason for this was my own fault, as I broke an important agreement we had, along with other issues," the actor's Instagram-translated statement read.

"We decided to go our separate ways and live our lives as we see fit. However, we still remain good siblings to each other," he added.

Kitiwhut went on to express his gratitude towards those who supported their love ever since.

"I sincerely apologize for any disappointment this may have caused. Once again, I deeply apologize to P’Boat from the bottom of my heart. I take full responsibility for this matter," he said.

In a separate statement on his X account, Kitiwhut said that "there were many reasons and factors involved" in their split as he stressed that he is "another person who has made mistakes in this situation."

He then addressed allegations that he had cheated on Nuttapong after he was seen hanging out with another man in London.

"P’Boat has been someone I’ve deeply loved for 12 years, and we have shared countless happy moments together. But this time, our relationship officially ended two months ago, before I came to London," Kitiwhut said.

He shared that he and Nuttapong are still in contact with each other and continue to support each other as "good life partners."

"If anyone wants to place blame, direct it at me, but please don’t blame P’Mon—I sincerely ask this of you," Kitiwhut implored.

As of writing, Nuttapong has yet to release his own statement on the matter.

The pair first announced their engagement in September 2023 through a series of pictures on Instagram showing the two of them embracing each other sweetly. However, Kitiwhut hid a delightful surprise at the end as the last picture was of their hands on each other showcasing their beautiful engagement rings.

Nuttapong later properly proposed to Kitiwhut in June 2024 after Thailand became the first Southeast Asian country to allow same-sex marriage.

The pair became famous for their roles in several Thai BL shows, most notably in the 2021 romantic drama series Top Secret Together where they played a gay couple. After the drama ended, the two turned their onscreen romance into a reality.
