Perez Hilton to have long recovery after disturbing livestream

Perez Hilton's family has given an update on the blogger's condition after he shocked viewers in a disturbing livestream on TikTok.
In a statement posted on his website, his family addressed the "many false and inaccurate reports" on the incident.
They confirmed that Hilton remains hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows temporary detention and involuntary mental health examination of individuals for up to 72 hours if they pose a serious threat to themselves or others due to mental illness.
"His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers, and others directly involved in his care. He has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements," they detailed.
His family went on to stress that the only statements regarding Hilton that should be considered "credible and authorized" are those published directly on his website.
"Perez’s condition remains serious but stable. He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days," they said.
"His treatment and recovery will be a long process. We are grateful that Perez was able to spend time with his mother and sister yesterday," they added.
They implored the public to give them space and privacy to care for everyone affected by this situation.
They further stressed that "there is absolutely no reason for members of the media or the public to remain outside the family’s home."
"We again respectfully ask members of the media to leave the home and surrounding area, stop following family members, and cease photographing Perez’s children. We also ask photo agencies not to purchase, publish, or distribute any photographs of the children that may have been taken," they said.
"Perez’s children remain safe and are being cared for by immediate family. Please allow them and the rest of the family the peace and privacy they desperately need during this incredibly difficult time," they ended.
According to a PEOPLE report, Miami police received multiple calls at around 6:51 p.m. on Aug. 4 EDT about Hilton's livestream, in which he appeared to self-harm.
Dispatch audio obtained by the outlet stated that police requested assistance from fire services at around 10:41 p.m. The blogger's home was described as an "active police scene," with authorities making entry shortly after.
Authorities confirmed that the blogger was alone at home. He was then rushed to the hospital to receive medical attention.
His TikTok account has also been banned and the livestream taken down.
Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., is known for his celebrity gossip site launched in the early 2000s.
